Adult Art Classes
I run adult art classes throughout the year: Life Drawing and Observational Drawing. Both courses are delivered in six-week blocks. All materials are included in the cost of the course and refreshments are provided.  You are of course welcome to bring along your own art materials too.

You will be encouraged to try a range of materials and push yourself out of your comfort zone.

Classes are relaxed and informal and my teaching style is positive and encouraging.

Cost: £120.
Booking and deposit essential to secure your place.

  • Polish your drawing technique.

  • Improve hand-eye co-ordination.

What to expect from an art session:

messy art processes

It'll get Messy

We'll draw without looking at the paper, use charcoal and use our non-dominant hand.  It sounds bonkers but it's all part of the learning process.

Happy Children

Drawing is great for kids.  It enhances motor skills by improving hand-eye

co-ordination, concentration and makes them more expressive.

But I can't draw?!

I hear this a lot.  Guess what, you can!  It's all about practice and not comparing yourself to others.  Trust me, you'll get there.

Just bring yourself

All materials are provided on the adult courses so once you've booked a place,  just turn up. Don't worry, there will be a cuppa and a biscuit for you at half time.

Feedback from course members :

"The class was really relaxed, so I never felt under-pressure, which made it much more enjoyable.  Plus, I'm pleased to say that my drawing improved over the course, and that the techniques Melissa taught were so helpful that by week 6 could definitely see a
change for the better!"

 - H Watkins (Beginners drawing class)

"Brilliant - no pressure, great fun!"
 - L Gaiderman (Life Drawing Class)

"A really well structured course.  I learned a lot! Very well thought through and well put together - would highly recommend!"
 - M Purkiss (Life Drawing Class)

"In November this year I fulfilled a long-time ambition to learn to draw and booked a place on Melissa's life drawing workshop. I was quite nervous but the whole group were lovely.  They were all different abilities.  Melissa was brilliant.  She brought out a hidden talent I never knew existed!  She gently coaxed and encouraged me and I came out feeling really good about myself.  I can’t wait for the 6 week course to begin.  If you’ve ever thought about it, take the plunge and just like me, you may love it."
 - S Evans (Beginners Drawing Class and Life Drawing Class)

"I thoroughly enjoyed the course!  Loved all the different techniques Melissa covered over the 6 weeks.  Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to pick up a pencil."

 - E James (Life Drawing Class)
